Hi Julia, does this plant when full size also have little berries, green at first then they turn black? I think this is what I have in my garden and just want to make sure before I eat it

    Kind regards
    Rachel

Hi Rachel, no galinsoga doesn’t have little berries. Send me a photo of the plant you are talking about and I’ll identify it for you. Best wishes Julia

Black Nightshade (Solanum Nigrum)) has green unripe berries that ripen to black (this plant is pictured in The Weed Forager’s Handbook by Adam Grubb and Anne Raser-Rowland) and the leaf shape does look similar to the leaves in the trug. I have been pulling this weed out, thinking it was Deadly Nightshade… now I am hoping it shows up again because I can’t wait to try the *fully* ripe black berries in a weed salad. This is just a suggestion based on my reading of the above book; definitely take Julia up on her photo id offer!
