Dear reader,

It feels like spring and summer are on the way with the lovely weather we've been having. It is all about to change this weekend with rain which will be good for all the plants as they're drying out here in Pyes Pa already.  I've written an article below about Speedwell or Veronica persica a delightful plant with pretty dainty blue flowers, out now, which the bees are enjoying.

I had a fantastic seminar session at the Horticultural Centre in Auckland on October 11th for the Auckland Herb Society with 60 people in attendence. This is the biggest audience I've spoken too and I really enjoyed it and received very positive feedback. The photo below is a scene from the lively interest in the wild edibles I introduced to the group.

My sister sent me the wonderful image of how to make Liquid manure which she saw in the Hamilton Permaculture Garden.  It is so informative and easy to do oneself at home that I wanted to share it. Thanks to the Hamilton Gardens for a great resource.

On November 2nd I'll be speaking in Christchurch, my first time in the South Island talking about wild edibles, very exciting - see the flyer below.

Finally, my friend Jane Powell is running a hands on sauerkraut making workshop this Sunday 19th October in Papamoa - flyer below.

Have a great spring getting your gardens planted up for the new season and happy weed gathering for local, free nutritional abundance!

Julia
